Let’s Celebrate: Furgent Care Wins the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award

There’s a little extra tail-wagging (and a few proud purrs) happening at our clinic this month. On September 12, 2026, Furgent Care Veterinary Urgent Care was honored with the Diverse Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award at the 3rd Annual Virginia Beach Small Business Parade Walk Celebration.

As a locally and independently owned veterinary urgent care in Virginia Beach, this recognition means more to us than the award itself. It reflects the pet parents, team members, and neighbors who have trusted us with their dogs and cats, and it’s a reminder of why we opened our doors in the first place.

A Morning on the Boardwalk Celebrating Local Business

The Parade Walk Celebration took place along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk, bringing together entrepreneurs, corporate partners, and government agencies to celebrate the small businesses that keep our city moving. Local business owners were recognized for their leadership, innovation, and impact on the community. Being named among them is something our whole team is incredibly proud of.

Virginia Beach: A Top City for Small Business

This award comes during a big year for our city. The Diverse Chamber of Commerce and Industry named Virginia Beach No. 3 in its 2026 Top City Ranking for Small Business, recognizing the city for:

  • Innovation and technology adoption

  • Responsive local government support

  • Strong small business networks and resources

We’re proud to be one of the small businesses helping support and strengthen this community, and grateful to call a city that invests in local entrepreneurs home.

What This Award Means for Pet Parents Looking for a Virginia Beach Vet

For us, entrepreneurship has always been about filling a real need. Pet parents often find themselves in a tough spot: their dog or cat needs to be seen sooner than a regular appointment allows, but the situation doesn’t call for an emergency hospital. That’s exactly the gap veterinary urgent care was built to fill. We offer same-day vet care with a convenient wait list system, allowing you to wait comfortably at home and still be seen when your pet needs it.

Being locally owned means decisions about your pet’s care are made right here in Hampton Roads, by a team of veterinarians and staff who live in and care about this community. It also means we work hand in hand with your family vet. After every visit, we send full medical records, including exam and discussion notes, as well as results of any diagnostics performed, to your primary care veterinarian so everyone stays on the same page.

Pet parents visit us from all over Virginia Beach, as well as nearby Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth.

Thank You to Our Furgent Care Family

We owe thanks to so many people:

  • Our clients and pet parents, for trusting us with the dogs and cats you love

  • Our team members, for showing up with skill and compassion every day

  • Our community partners and fellow local businesses, for lifting each other up

  • The Diverse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for championing small businesses in Virginia Beach
